Sustainable Cincy Demo Day Celebrates Five Groundbreaking Startups
I'm searching for the right words to capture last week’s Sustainable Cincy Demo Day. Gratitude, admiration, hope, purpose, community, and friendship come to mind.
Demo Day spotlighted the incredible work of five groundbreaking startups driving sustainability in our region — ModFab, Sunflower Fuels, Greenway Innovations, Inc., X-Inator, and Ecoshell, LLC. From expanding affordable housing to revolutionizing medical waste management to advancing battery technology and reducing plastic consumption, each founder shared how their ventures are making a powerful economic and social impact. We also heard from industry leaders like chad edwards RA, NCARB, LEED AP, LFA of the Green Business Council of Greater Cincinnati, who spoke on the corporate role in sustainability, and Kevin Kushman of Electrada, our Demo Day Impact Sponsor, who highlighted the importance of startups in tackling regional sustainability challenges.
Demo Day was a culmination of months of hard work and dedication by our outstanding Flywheel coaches, our workshop leaders, and our fantastic partners at University of Cincinnati's Center for Entrepreneurship and the City of Cincinnati -- and especially the remarkable Samuel Baker, whose tireless efforts and thoughtful leadership brought the entire 8-week Sustainable Cincy program to life.
Congratulations Kémo A'akhutera, Gabrielle Blocher, Alison Connor, MHA, Hridayesh Kumar, Andrew Bliss on graduating from Sustainable Cincy. You have set a high bar, and to say you represented Flywheel well is an understatement.
Thank you to all who came out to hear from these exceptional founders how they are making the world a better place for current and future generations. Sustainable Cincy is a testament to the powerful combination of economic and social impact we can create when we support social enterprise --we call it the double bottom line, and Flywheel Social Enterprise Hub has being doing it for 13 years. We are a small non-profit, but our impact is big -- and this work would not be possible without the support of our network of volunteers, partners, donors, and our incredible board of directors. Thank you for all you do to support this important work.
