At Flywheel, we continue to marvel at what our community would look like if all of our social entrepreneurs were wildly successful. Dr. Calisha Brooks and her business, Soul Care.

Flywheel: What inspired you to start your venture?

Dr. Brooks: I’m committed to meeting the mental health needs of marginalized identities and communities. Seeing the lack of culturally sensitive and impactful resources really moved me to make a difference.

Flywheel: If you are wildly successful, how will our community be a better place

Dr. Brooks: Healed communities creating healed families and producing healthy individuals.

Flywheel: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?

Dr. Brooks: A fly girl! lol (And a helper/healer )

I’m a lover of all things hip hop, and fly girls represented the culture well!

Flywheel: What’s a good piece of advice you got from a former boss or mentor?

Dr. Brooks: Stay true to your mission and truth. You were created for such a time as this.

Flywheel: What’s a fun fact about you that would make people smile?

Dr. Brooks: I’m a distant relative of Diana Ross. (The cousin of my great-grandmother).

Flywheel: What’s a household chore you enjoy doing and why?
