SustainableCincy is Back this Fall!

Flywheel Social Enterprise Hub is excited to announce the return of SustainableCincy for Fall 2024. After a brief hiatus to focus on our Housing Stabilization Hackathon—where 24 local landlords, data scientists, and entrepreneurs collaborated to find innovative solutions for reducing evictions—we are ready to bring back one of our key programs!

What is SustainableCincy?

SustainableCincy is an 8-week accelerator program designed to support early-stage social impact founders who are passionate about using innovation to promote sustainable practices and address environmental issues. The program helps these entrepreneurs gain the necessary skills, mentorship, connections, and resources to scale their businesses and maximize their impact.

Program Highlights:

  • Expert Mentorship: Participants will benefit from guidance provided by seasoned mentors from our Flywheel coaching roster, bringing a diverse set of skills and experience.

  • Networking Opportunities: The program offers extensive networking opportunities with local industry leaders, subject matter experts, potential investors, and fellow entrepreneurs.

  • Resource Access: Cohort members will gain access to tools, workshops, and resources tailored to address the critical topics for startup success.

  • Financial Support: Participants will receive a $6,000 to $8,000 investment to help develop their ventures.

  • Pitch Opportunities: An opportunity to pitch in front of community leaders, potential investors, and members of the Cincinnati startup ecosystem at our Demo Day event.

Success Stories from Previous Cohorts:

Flywheel held its first SustainableCincy cohort in the Fall of 2020. Since then, we've had some incredible founders come through this program, including:

  • Intersect Agriculture: A vertical indoor farm focused on converting waste into nutrients through rearing insects in a net carbon negative process.

  • Blue Ocean Solids: A company providing innovative concentrates for water treatment—eliminating the need for liquid chemicals and chemical drums to lessen the effects of climate change by offering the same water treatment chemistry in a concentrated solid form.

  • Last Mile Food Rescue: An organization leveraging technology and volunteer support to combat food waste by redistributing surplus food to those in need, ensuring no good food goes to waste.
